Pontianak. Pontianak is the capital of West Kalimantan province.
For Overseas Visitors
You can use your own flight direct to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The airport is the main airport serving the greater Jakarta area on the island of Java, Indonesia. The airport is named after the first President of Indonesia, Soekarno, and the first vice-president, Mohammad Hatta. The airport is often called Cengkareng by Indonesians. The airport's IATA code, CGK, originates from the name of the Cengkareng locality, a district situated to the northwest of the city.
How to get in Pontianak
By plane
This is the most recommended transportation mean to reach Pontianak. Other than Jakarta, the main hub of Indonesian cities, Pontianak is reachable by plane served by most national carriers from Batam (accessible from Singapore by ferry), Medan, Balikpapan, Jogjakarta, Semarang, as well as Kuching, Malaysia. Most tourists visiting Pontianak choose the first option, which will take approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The name of the local airport is Supadio.
Airlines serving the city include Garuda Airlines, Batavia Air, Lion Air , Sriwijaya Air (Kalstar) Trigana Air, Deraya Air, IAT. From the airport to Pontianak city the only mean of transportation is by taxi.
By bus
Bus trip to Pontianak can be arranged from Kuching in neighboring Malaysia. A trip from Kuching to Pontianak or vide versa will spend at least 8 hours which will pass the border area of Entikong. Some of the bus providers serving this route are Damri, SJS and Biramas (www.mybus.com.my).
By boat
While being the cheapest inter-island transportation mean, it is Higly unrecommended to board on a ship to Pontianak. The tide in Java Sea is unstable, which may make you feel sick on board, if you are not used to high tide. A trip will spend 12-18 hours to/from Jakarta. Contact nearest travel agent to conduct your trip.
By car
Pontianak can be reached by car from Kuching in 6-8 hours, although the road is not in very good shape. See Pontianak to Kuching for a detailed itinerary.

Is there any flight schedule at your web blog, web master?
It was wonderful thing to visit Kalbar in terms of Visit Kalbar 2010 indeed, but I don't have to wait until that year if I want to do it now. Pontianak will always part of Indonesia in general.
Do you know something about the sea schedule, I mean direct schedulle from Mojokerto to this area?. well I think I must go to Jakarta first. Am I right?
I am interested in getting to know about Imlek or Chinese year year that held in Singkawang City. Would you mind telling the complete stories written by your staff regarding celebrating new year of Chinese in Singkawang?
